Drug distribution ring in Wisconsin busted after extensive 18-month investigation, 6 arrests made

EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Roughly a quarter of a million dollars worth of fentanyl, methamphetamine and other drugs were seized after an 18-month investigation busted one of the largest fentanyl distribution networks ever investigated in western Wisconsin.

According to the Eau Claire Police Department, the investigation conducted by the West Central Drug Task Force led to the arrest of six people, two of which have also been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury.

Authorities say that all six have been charged in Eau Claire County Court for offenses related to the conspiracy to deliver illegal drugs.

The ‘extensive’ 18-month investigation busted the drug distribution ring that handled a ‘large-scale distribution’ of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and other dangerous drugs in the Eau Claire County area.

Investigators say they received information about 41-year-old Hector Jimenez-Sosa’s alleged role in drug distribution in the area, subsequently uncovering a drug ring that shipped narcotics to various addresses via USPS.

During the investigation, investigators conducted multiple controlled buys of illegal drugs from Jimenez-Sosa and others. Noting in the release, that the street value of the drugs seized was around $250,000.

Authorities say that this particular fentanyl distribution network was one of the largest ever investigated in western Wisconsin, and that fentanyl sold by this group was allegedly linked to at least one overdose death in the Eau Claire area.
