Drug investigation yields two arrests

Oct. 27—Investigations involving illegal drugs yielded two arrests on Thursday as law enforcement from numerous agencies served search and arrest warrants at three locations in the Lauderdale County area.

In a news release, Lauderdale County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said warrants were served in the 600 block of 39th Court East, 200 block of Greenhill Road and 400 block of Greenhill Road.

Serving the warrants were law enforcement from the East Mississippi Drug Task Force, Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team, Mississippi Alcohol Beverage Control, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Marshals and Homeland Security Investigations were involved in the effort, Calhoun said.

As a result of the warrants, Richard Lee Harris, 39, and Brittany Alexie Broach, 34, were arrested and charged with multiple drug related offenses.

Harris was charged with aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine, aggravated trafficking of cocaine, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of Adderall, possession of oxycodone and possession of hydrocodone. His bond was set at $4.8 million.

Broach was charged with possession of Adderall, possession of oxycodone and possession of hydrocodone, and her bond was set at $300,000.

In addition to the arrests, officers seized more than 6.5 pounds of methamphetamine, more than two pounds of cocaine, 13 pounds of marijuana, 30 Xanax pills, 22 hydrocodone pills, 28 oxycodone pills, two Adderall pills and six firearms.

Calhoun said the investigation is continuing and more charges could be added later.
