Drug raid nets large stash of meth, cash

Mar. 6—TUPELO — Police in Tupelo have reportedly seized almost 10 pounds of methamphetamine and more than $16,000 in cash from a house just north of the city.

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, the Lee County Sheriff's Office and a Tupelo Police Department K-9 unit conducted a search warrant on March 1 at 163 County Road 653 in Saltillo (just off Beech Springs Road). During the search, officers allegedly seized 9.5 pounds of methamphetamine and $16,757 in cash.

Broderick Jerome Jones, 37, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine. During his initial appearance the next day in Lee County Justice Court, Judge Phyllis Dye set his bond at $500,000.

Officials said this has been an ongoing undercover operation conducted by the MBN, NMNU and LSO. The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges and arrests are expected.
