Drug raid in South Windsor turns up hallucinogenic mushrooms, illegal amount of marijuana and nets two arrests
A drug raid in South Windsor on Monday that turned up hallucinogenic mushrooms and an illegal amount of marijuana netted two arrests.
Stephen D. Zrinchak, 27, and Nicholas M. Laferriere, 23, were both arrested following a search of their residence that was carried out by the East Central Narcotics Task Force and local police, according to the South Windsor Police Department.
The raid was the result of a months-long investigation into suspicions that Zrinchak and Laferriere were involved in producing and distributing marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms and THC by-products, police said.
The search turned up six clear bags of suspected psilocybin mushrooms weighing a total of 62 grams, nine bags of suspected marijuana weighing a total of 9.16 pounds, five THC candy edibles in Mylar bags and drug packaging materials that included sandwich bags, a scale and large Ziploc bags, according to police.
Zrinchak was charged with conspiracy to commit sale of a hallucinogen and possession with intent to sell. Laferriere was charged with sale of a hallucinogen.
Both men were released on $20,000 bonds and are expected to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Dec. 6.
