Drug suspect tokes on marijuana during his court hearing, Tennessee sheriff says

A Tennessee man standing before a judge on a drug charge pulled out a joint and began smoking marijuana, media outlets report.

Spencer Boston, 20, was in Wilson County court Monday to discuss his sentencing on a drug possession charge when he stood at the podium and began arguing for legalization of marijuana, the Tennessean reported. That’s when he pulled the joint out of his pocket, lit it up and starting smoking, the newspaper reported.

The smell of marijuana wafted through the air, and the courtroom burst into laughter, WSMV reported.

Then officers escorted Boston out of the courtroom “through a small cloud of smoke,” WTVF reported.

“One of the craziest things I’ve seen,” Sheriff Robert Bryan told the Nashville TV station.

Jail records show Boston was in custody on charges of drug possession and disorderly conduct.
