They call it liquid courage for a reason.

A Kalamazoo man went airborne in a "Dukes of Hazzard"-style crash Thursday afternoon. The 25-year-old sustained some injuries, but lives to tell the tale.

Driving a Chevy Impala, the man was exiting southbound U.S. 131 onto 142nd Avenue in Dorr Township when the car veered off the road, up an embankment and into the air.

The Kalamazoo man's car then hit a road sign and landed on its passenger side in a ditch, according to Michigan State Police. He was taken to Bronson Hospital for evaluation, where blood tests showed proof of intoxication.

Police plan to pursue various charges, including operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The next time you see an action flick and feel particularly inspired, remember the fine-print warning: Don't try this at home.
