Drunken driving checkpoints in Monmouth County for the weekend of August 25

There will be just one drunken driving checkpoint this weekend and that will be in Neptune City, announced Allenhurst Police Chief Michael Schneider, who serves as coordinator of the Monmouth County DWI Task Force.

Northbound motorists on Route 35 will be stopped from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday, and will be required to pull into the parking lot of a Sunoco gas station, Schneider said.

Task force members, working alongside Neptune City police officers, will then screen each driver’s sobriety.

There are normally two such DWI checkpoints in Monmouth County over the course of a summer weekend. This weekend there will be only the one, he said.
