Dublin, Bridge Park offer holiday-inspired activities

The city of Dublin and Bridge Park are to offer a variety of activities and events in December to provide Dublin residents with opportunities to prepare for and enjoy Christmastime.

The season’s celebration is to start with the city of Dublin's tree lighting from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Riverside Crossing Park, 6635 Riverside Drive.

Buying gifts to place under a Christmas tree is typically an activity for adults, but the Kids Holiday Gift Shop at Pop-Up Dublin, Dec. 7-10, is to provide kids the opportunity to purchase gifts without the parents or guardians observing.

Parents and guardians can drop off their children where they can independently select gifts, according to Shirley Blaine, media communication strategist for Dublin.

Earlier this year, the city leased a building at 63 S. High St., in historic Dublin, and launched Pop-Up Dublin, a pilot program in which a rotating selection of arts-and-crafts vendors, on each Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and each Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m., sell homemade arts, crafts, jewelry, clothes and consumable goods.

The Kids Holiday Gift Shop at Pop-Up Dublin is tailored to children.

“Volunteers will guide kids through the shopping experience, from selecting a gift, purchasing the item and wrapping (their gift) before their parents or guardians pick them up. Vendors will be selling price-appropriate gifts for children to select from and parents are encouraged to provide a list of gift recipients and set a budget for their child to reference,” Blaine said.

The gift shop is to be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7-9 and from 1 to 8 p.m. Dec. 10.

Pop-Up Dublin is to be open 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 14 and 1 to 8 p.m. Dec. 17 for shoppers of all ages.

Bridge Park in Dublin is also providing a plethora of holiday activities during its “12 Days of Bridge Park,” including the 12 Days of Giveaways, a scavenger hunt from Dec. 1-12.

Each day, a prize card is to be hidden in a new location at Bridge Park. Clues are to be revealed on Bridge Park’s Instagram stories on social media, according to Kinnedy Kuhn, communications and marketing specialist for Crawford Hoying, the developer of Bridge Park.

For four nights, Thursday through Sunday, from Dec. 1-18, Bridge Park is to offer, “Not So Silent Nights,” a series of holiday-inspired events that include live music, cold-weather drink specials and an Ugly Sweater Bar Crawl, Kuhn said.

The Ugly Sweater Bar Crawl is set for Dec. 10 and requires a passport available at The Getaway Brewing Co., 104 N. High St.; Market Bar, 6750 Longshore Drive; and PINS Mechanical Co., 6558 Riverside Drive.

The Holiday Market at North Market Bridge Park is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 17, featuring more than 30 vendors and a DJ is to play holiday music.

Children can visit Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 17 at Keystone Park, adjacent to ReboL, 6608 Longshore Drive, in the Bridge Park district.
