Dufresne provides the offense for Windsor Locks

Sep. 21—The Windsor Locks High girls soccer team needed every bit of offense Julia Dufresne could muster Tuesday.

The sophomore gave the Raiders everything she could.

Dufresne scored all four goals as Windsor Locks topped East Hartford 4-3 in a non-conference game at home.

It's the first win of the season for the Raiders (1-2-0).

Two goals from Meghan Moore put the Hornets (0-4-0) ahead early, but Dufresne responded with two goals of her own to make it 2-2 at the half.

Jasmine Hurdle also played well for Windsor Locks. Teammate Alison Gough made 12 saves in the victory.

Freshman Jaylene Perez scored the third goal for the Hornets. Zoe Mercado stopped 16 shots in goal.

East Hartford welcomes Tolland Thursday while Windsor Locks is off until Tuesday when it plays at Ellington.

ELLINGTON 8, E. WINDSOR/SMSA 0. Casey Rice and Nadia Zaffanella scored two goals apiece in Ellington's NCCC win at home.

Giada Zaffanella, Erica Paparian, Katie Murphy and Brooke Diwinsky also scored for Ellington (3-0-0), which led 5-0 at the half.

Kyra Kobak and Kaitlin Laughlin combined to make one save in the shutout. Sophomore Samantha Ruggiero stopped 32 shots for East Windsor/SMSA (1-2-0).

Ellington welcomes Granby today while East Windsor/SMSA entertains East Granby Friday.

CANTON 1, ROCKVILLE 0. Sophomore Juliana Cavanaugh made six saves as the Warriors earned a NCCC shutout win in Vernon.

Classmate Rachel Renaud scored the lone goal in Tuesday's win for Canton (1-1-1). Jordan Galica stopped eight shots for Rockville (0-3-1).

The Rams are at Suffield Saturday.

TOLLAND 3, RHAM 1. In Tolland, sophomore Cali-Dean Craft scored a goal and added two assists in the Eagles' CCC East triumph.

It's the second time this season Tolland (4-0-0) has beaten the Raptors (0-4-0). The Eagles earned a 6-0 win in Hebron Sept. 13.

Sophomore Taylor Sztaba opened the scoring for Tolland 12:08 into the game. Teammate Brynn Peters made it 2-0 with 58 seconds left in the first half.

Halie Oman cut RHAM's deficit to one with 18:12 to play, but Craft pushed the lead back to two 6:41 later.

Ella Santini stopped four shots for Tolland while Julia Mrachek made nine saves for RHAM.

Tolland is at East Hartford Thursday, the same day the Raptors are in South Windsor.

EAST CATHOLIC 8, PLATT 0. Sophomore Avery Prewo scored two goals and added an assist as the Eagles won a CCC interdivisional game in Meriden.

It's the third straight win for East Catholic (3-1-0) and the second consecutive shutout. During the win streak, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 18-1.

Freshman Anya Tansil opened the scoring five minutes into the game, the first of three goals in a four-minute span. The Eagles would take a 7-0 lead into halftime.

Kaitlyn Nyberg added a goal and an assist in the win. Freshmen Anna Button and Biz Carmon and sophomore Sammy Creamer also found the back of the net.

Taylor Caldwell, Sarah Posniak, Callie Gentile, Bella Jablonecki and Molly Caron each contributed assists. Goaltender Marina Juan made three saves.

Zaniyah Duncan stopped 17 shots for the Panthers (0-2-0).

East Catholic entertains Enfield Thursday.

MANCHESTER 3, MIDDLETOWN 0. Liz Schoeneberger scored twice to pace the Red Hawks in CCC interdivisional play in Middletown.

Kaylee Cormier's long shot eight minutes into the game got Manchester (2-1-1) on the board. Schoeneberger, a sophomore, followed with her goals to put the visitors ahead by three at the half.

Kayla Berube and Gabby Smith played solid defense in the shutout win.

Manchester looks to extend its unbeaten streak to three on Thursday when it welcomes E.O. Smith.

ENFIELD 5, BRISTOL CENTRAL 2. Sydney Marshall netted two goals in the Eagles' CCC interdivisional win in Bristol.

The win extends Enfield's unbeaten streak to four games.

Lilly Jaeger opened the scoring for the Eagles (3-0-1) in the first 10 minutes of the game, the only goal of the first half.

Marshall scored her goals and sophomore Aubree Usher added one to put the visitors up 4-0.

The Rams (3-1-0) got a goal back, but Sam Fuller scored on a direct kick to make it 5-1.

Bristol Central converted a penalty kick with nine minutes to play, but couldn't get any closer.

Mattie Alaimo and Audrey Mazzarella also played well for the Eagles, who are at East Catholic Thursday.

HALL 1, SOUTH WINDSOR 0. Junior Sally Kritzman scored the lone goal as the Titans won a CCC interdivisional game on the road.

Haley Butler, a junior, made four saves for South Windsor (1-2-1), which entertains RHAM Thursday. Gabby Deslauriers stopped two shots for Hall (2-2-0).
