At two sobriety checkpoints near Obetz Friday night, the Franklin County DUI Task Force reported Saturday morning it arrested two drivers for operating a vehicle while impaired and made one gun violation arrest.

The checkpoints were manned from 8 p.m. Friday until 12:30 a.m. Saturday on Alum Creek Drive, south of Williams Road, on the city's Southeast Side.

According to a news release on Saturday, the checkpoints resulted in the following:

  • Total vehicles checked: 146

  • DUI arrests made: 2

  • Total number of citations issued: 15

  • Driver license violators: 10

  • Traffic warnings: 129

  • Vehicle impounds: 7

  • Gun violation arrest: 1

The checkpoints are part of a cooperative effort between the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and more than 30 law enforcement agencies in the county that are part of a DUI task force.

"The Task Force wants to impress upon those who will be consuming alcohol to plan for a designated driver or make other arrangements," according to a news release.
