DUI suspect had toddler in car when she veered off road, killed woman, deputies say

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A 34-year-old woman was arrested Monday after being accused of fatally striking a pedestrian while driving under the influence in Hillsborough County last year.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Dec. 19, 2023, around 8:45 p.m., at the intersection of Harney Road and Williams Road in Thontosassa. When police arrived, they found a woman “down in the roadway.”

Despite life-saving efforts, the victim, identified as Sabrina Rohrback, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene. HCSO said Rohrback had been walking on the shoulder of Harney Road when Warden veered off the roadway, ultimately striking and killing her.

HCSO said Warden was charged with DUI manslaughter, child neglect, and DUI accompanied by a person under 18. Deputies said Warden had a 3-year-old in the vehicle during the accident.

Her BAC was 0.14 at the time of the crash, more than .06 over the legal limit, according to the report.

“This case is disappointing and heartbreaking on so many levels,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “An innocent woman was killed because of someone’s recklessness, and a three-year-old could have been seriously injured. I am proud of the thorough investigation conducted by our detectives and hope that this arrest can bring some source of healing to the family impacted by this tragedy.”

The investigation is ongoing.
