Duke Energy grant to fund classroom, food supplies for Bauer Family Resources

DELPHI, Ind. − Duke Energy recently awarded Bauer Family Resources with a $5,000 match grant.

This match grant will support Bauer Family Resources' Head Start program, operated at Delphi Community Elementary School.

"The grant will support expenses related to classroom and food supplies for the 2022-2023 school year which will begin in the month of September," a release from Bauer said. "Bauer’s Head Start programs provide preschool age children with kindergarten readiness programming that meets their emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs."

Both Bauer Family Resources and Duke Energy look forward to the future this award will bring, as representatives from both entities provided comment.

“We are thrilled to partner with Duke Energy to amplify the impact Head Start has in Delphi," Tristen Comegys, Bauer’s CEO, said in a release. "Partnership is a core component of Head Start because the federal funds awarded only make up 80% of the needed funding. Head Start agencies are required to acquire the remaining 20% through a non-federal match which includes partnerships, volunteers, and donations.”

Dan Rhodes, government and community relations manager at Duke Energy, is eager for the expansions in childhood education this award will bring.

“We know that jumpstarting a child’s education can improve their chances of success,” Rhodes said in the release. “We’re proud to make this investment in Bauer Family Resources’ Head Start program to help ensure families in Delphi continue to have access to high-quality early childhood education.”

Organizations interested in partnering with Bauer Family Resources and Duke Energy to further strengthen Delphi Head Start are encouraged to contact Comegys directly at tcomegys@bauerfamilyresources.org.
