Two Duke basketball players — forward Paolo Banchero and guard Michael Savarino — were arrested on Sunday and face DWI charges.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol arrested and charged Savarino with DWI with Banchero in his back seat. Banchero was charged, but not arrested, with aiding and abetting DWI.
After Tuesday's 92-52 win over Gardner-Webb University, coach Mike Krzyzewski called the DWI charges against the two over the weekend a "violation of our standards."
"We'll handle that internally," Coach K said. "We're already handling it."
Banchero played and started in Tuesday's game. Savarino was not in attendance and it was not made clear when he would return.

Who arePaolo Banchero and Michael Savarino?
Banchero entered the season with high expectations for the Blue Devils and was named the ACC's preseason player of the year and freshman of the year. Multiple outlets have projected the star forward as a potential No. 1 overall draft pick in next summer's NBA Draft.

What were the two Duke players arrested for?
According to authorities, a white 2017 Jeep SUV registered to Banchero was pulled over for a stop sign violation on Sunday at 1:10 a.m. by the North Carolina Highway patrol in Orange County. Savarino was behind the wheel and Banchero was in the back seat, police said.
According to an arrest report obtained from the Orange County District Court, Savarino submitted to two breathalyzer tests and blew a .08 BAC. According to the report, the arresting officer said he smelled alcohol on Savarino's breath.
Savarino was stopped for a stop sign violation while driving on Brushy Creek Road outside Hillsborough. "He stated that he had several shots," the report read.
North Carolina law states that aiding and abetting DWI is classified as "when a person knowingly encourages, aids, advises or instigates another person to drive, or attempt to drive, while impaired. There are numerous different behaviors that this could encompass, but the most common scenario involves a person turning their keys over to an impaired driver, and/or being present as a passenger when the driver is arrested for DWI."
What are Paolo Banchero and Michael Savarino charged with?
North Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. Christopher Knox told USA TODAY Sports that Savarino was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) while Banchero was charged with aiding and abetting DWI, but was released at the scene.
Savarino has a court date on Dec. 9 for his charge while Banchero's date is Dec. 15.
What did Coach K say about the arrests of Michael Savarino and Paolo Banchero?

Krzyzewski said it was a different situation between the two players, which is why Banchero played against Gardner-Webb on Tuesday. "Headlines might make it look like it’s the same, it’s not.”
