Duke, Trojanovich team up to take Times-News Open Doubles Tournament bowling title

Mike Duke and Matt Trojanovich paired up to win the seventh annual Times-News Open Doubles Tournament at Eastway Lanes on Sunday.

Trojanovich and Duke beat Bob Stile and Mike Dunkle 266-237 in the championship finals.

Diverse bowling skills, unique format: Times-News Doubles event set to roll for 7th time

The 78 teams in the tournament consisted of two bowlers with a combined average of no more than 420, based on 50-game averages from the current season or previous Times-News Opens.

Duke and Trojanovich finished the four-game qualifier in 15th place with a pinfall total of 1,773, qualifying for the single-elimination, 16-team Baker-format finals. Randy Prue and Lou LaFuria led qualifying with a 1,911 total.

The 60th annual Times-News Open begins with qualifying rounds on Jan. 14-15, 2023, and ends with finals rounds Jan. 28-29. Visit tnopen.org for information and to register.
