Dump truck hits post at Dover gas station

A 56-year-old man was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol after driving a dump truck into a post supporting the canopy over gas pumps at Speedway, 1127 N. Tuscarawas Ave. at 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

DOVER — A 56-year-old man was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol after he hit a post supporting the canopy over gas pumps at Speedway, 1127 N. Tuscarawas Ave. at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, according to Dover police.

The crash report also said the dump truck hit concrete block and a gas pump. The impact sent pieces of concrete into an employee's parked car.

The driver was westbound on Tuscarawas when he drove off the left side of the road into the gas station.

A maintenance worker from Speedway's corporate office said the pump was working Tuesday.

The driver lives in the Dover area. He was not injured.

In an unrelated incident, a crash was reported in the same block of N. Tuscarawas Avenue at 10:27 p.m. Sunday.
