Duncan, Marlow compete in first of back-to-back meets

Dec. 4—The Duncan and Marlow Swim teams competed in the first of two back-to-back meets to start off the month of December in the 2021-2022 season.

The Duncan Lady Demons' swim team finished third overall while the Duncan Demons' swim team finished as runner-up and both Marlow teams finished fifth as a team overall.

Duncan's girls' team started the meet off with a third place finish in the 200-meter medley relay as the team of Briana Thomas, Stephanie Elser, Gaby Glover and Jordan Patterson competed for the meet.

The next event saw the Duncan boys' relay team of Cody Ramsey, Logan Morris, Asa Pollock and Trey Guernsey III finish second overall in the 200-meter medley relay race.

In the first individual swim race of the meet, the Lady Outlaws got the best finish in the 200-meter freestyle as Morgan Warren finished third overall with a time of 2:51.78.

The first victory of the night from either team came in the next event as Cody Ramsey finished first overall in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:39.68.

Duncan senior Gaby Glover got the next victory in an individual event as she won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 30.72 seconds getting to the wall first ahead of Emma Wu of Elgin by less than a second.

Marlow's boys' team got the next individual victory and the top two finishers were Outlaws' swimmers as Gage Davoult finished first overall in the 50-meter freestyle and Luke Banks finished second.

Warren, for the Lady Outlaws, got another big finish in an individual race as he finished second in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 6:09.16 to pace the Stephens County racers.

Pollock got the next big finish for the Demons as he finished second overall in the boys' 400-meter freestyle by finishing with a time of 5:59.03 followed by Ramsey who finished third in the race.

Duncan's boys' team got two victories in a row as the 200-meter freestyle relay team of Xavier Mikes, Tito Vaughn, Ramsey and Morris finished first with a commanding time.

The team finished with a time of 1:39.32 to beat Bethany's relay team by nearly 30 seconds with Ramsey getting the next top finish in the individual race two events later.

Ramsey finished with a time of 1:20.53 in the 100-meter backstroke to take home the victory with Marlow getting the next individual win in the 100-meter breaststroke race.

Banks took home the top honors in the 100-meter breaststroke race by finishing with a time of 1:18.79 to wrap up the final individual event of the first meet.

Duncan's girls' 400-relay team and the boys' 400-meter relay team finished second overall to finish out the meet with Duncan hosting again on Friday evening.
