Louisville, Oldham County schools top 2023 U.S. News & World Report rankings for Kentucky

DuPont Manual High School has been named one of the top 100 high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, according to the annual rankings released Tuesday.

Manual, an area magnet school where students are accepted through an admissions process, ranked No. 58 out of more than the 13,000 schools recorded across the country, down 10 spots down from its 2022 ranking at No. 47, according to U.S. News. Other Louisville high schools in the nation's best ranked included the J. Graham Brown School, Atherton, Male, Ballard, Butler, Fern Creek and several others.

Manual was also named the best high school in Kentucky, according to the ranking, though other schools in the Louisville metro area were named in the top five.

Higher spots in the 2023 rankings went to schools in Arizona, New York, Massachusetts and Michigan, according to the website. In 2022, Manual beat out schools in Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan for its place in the annual rankings.

Some of the top nationally ranked schools for 2023 to 2024 included: The Early College at Guilford in North Carolina, No. 1; Signature School in Indiana, No. 2 and the School for Advanced Studies in Florida at No. 3.
