The Women's College Softball World Series is here, and when the chants and cheers have faded, folks are gonna be hungry.

Florence's Restaurant opened in 1952 on a hot dog and a prayer. Fast forward six decades and founder Florence Jones Kemp, 90, and her daughter Victoria are preparing for a trip to Chicago to accept the state's first-ever James Beard Foundation Award later this month. With a full bar and outdoor dining, Florence's specializes in home-cooking like chicken and dumplings with rolls, cornbread and more sides than you deserve. Don't miss the candied yams.

Leo's Barbecue has been a local institution for more than five decades. The place to find it in a brand-new Homeland Grocery Store just around the corner from ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. Don't leave without a slice of banana-strawberry cake.

Wing Supreme is ideal for takeout, offering wings in 20 different flavor profiles.

For more than two decades, George's Happy Hog has kept the Capitol complex in quality barbecue. Owner Debra Ivory tragically lost her life to COVID-19 in 2020, but her legacy continues to grow thanks to her son Stephen's efforts to keep the barbecue smoking.  Don't miss smoked whole wings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Jamil's Steakhouse is an iconic Oklahoma brand, dating back to World War II in Tulsa. Jamil's came to the capital city in the mid-1960s taking over a former residence that operated for years as an illegal nightclub. Jamil's carries on the Lebanese steakhouse tradition into the 21st Century, featuring mezzes like hummus, tabouli, and cabbage rolls with hickory-smoked ribs and bologna before the steaks start to arrive.

Carican Flavors is a local institution featuring island flavors for nearly two decades. Owner Sharon McMillan brings her Trinidadian heritage to the kitchen and churns out the tropical flavors that teeter between sweet and heat.

For those looking to park and wander, the 405 diningscape has several nearby entertainment districts.

The Paseo Arts District features award-winning dining and broad options. Scratch Paseo is home to James Beard Award semifinalist Zach Hutton. The Anadarko native churns out fresh interpretations of Oklahoma cuisine in a closed loop of ingredients he sources from local farmers and producers. You'll also find award-winning Japanese fare at Goro Ramen and Izakaya, a gorgeous outdoor setting for brunch at Frida Southwest, late-night bacchanal at Burger Punk, refined dining at Paseo Grill, and tacos on the patio at OSO on Paseo.
