Dutch Bros plans to move portion of Oregon corporate staff to Phoenix office

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon-founded coffee chain Dutch Bros recently announced the decision to move 40% of its corporate support staff to its office in Arizona.

Dutch Bros’ headquarters is located in Grants Pass, where the company got its start as a push cart in 1992. As of Dec. 31, 2023, it has expanded to 831 locations across the U.S.

According to Chief Executive Officer Christine Barone, a former Starbucks executive who started her new role at the beginning of the year, the push to relocate a number of Oregon employees happened after Phoenix became one of the company’s strongest markets.

“As we look toward our long-term objective of 4,000+ shops, strengthening our existing operations in Arizona positions us to compete for the talent we need to accomplish this ambitious goal,” Barone added in a statement.

The CEO also noted that Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the 12th busiest airport nationwide, and will help the company connect with more customers from different markets.

Dutch Bros plans to shift staff members to its operations support center in Phoenix by Jan. 1, 2025. Company officials shared that most of those employees fulfill roles that are “strategic in nature” and “support day-to-day operations,” similar to the pre-existing jobs in the out-of-state market.

However, the coffee chain will continue operating in its home of Grants Pass.

“Grants Pass is home and our connection here is a key part of Dutch Bros’ success,” Co-founder and Executive Chairman Travis Boersma said in a statement. “Dutch Bros will continue to be connected to the community in a meaningful way through our roasting facility, HQ offices, the shops that operate in the area, and our local givebacks.”
