Dutch Farmers Set Hay Bales on Fire During Protest on Motorways

Farmers blocked motorways with piles of manure and hay bales in parts of the Netherlands on the morning of Wednesday, July 27, in protest against measures proposed by the government to tackle nitrogen pollution.

The transport department said the A1, A12, A28, A30, A35, and A50 motorways were closed or partially closed on Monday morning, local media reported, leading to traffic jams.
