Dutch Retirement Home Holds Daily Singalong as COVID-19 Concerns Cut Visitations

Residents and staff at a retirement home in the Netherlands have embraced a daily group singalong to lift spirits and maintain relationships at the facility amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Annenborch, a retirement and assisted-living facility in Rosmalen, said residents and staff sing the song Brabant every day at 3 pm to forge connections amid social distancing measures and canceled visitations. The facility said that sometimes “lonely” people from the neighborhood gather outside Annenborch to enjoy the song as well.

These videos show a crowd watching as people sway to the music on outdoor walkways and some residents stand on their balconies to hear the song.

Annenborch said in a newsletter on Wednesday that there have been no suspected cases of the new coronavirus at the facility.
