Duxbury Bay Maritime School invites South Shore veterans for 'Day on the Bay'

DUXBURY --  All South Shore veterans are invited to spend a free day on Duxbury Bay and enjoy a casual social get-together, a choice of boating and water sports and a barbecue on Aug. 27.

The Duxbury Bay Maritime School is hosting Veterans Day on the Bay in partnership with the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation and Duxbury Post 223.

Described as "a summer day of appreciation," the event includes social relaxation on the deck at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School at 457 Washington St. and then several opportunities to get out on the water.

Guests will check-In from 11:30 a.m. to  noon and then have a choice of: Sailing from  noon to 2 p.m. or powerboat rides from 1  to 2 p.m. or a tour of the rowing center from 1 . to  2 p.m. After that, the cookout will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. with departure from 3:30 to 4 p.m.

The Maritime School has special rowing classes for veterans. Open to current and former service members, the classes use indoor rowing machines and indoor rowing tanks.

Registration is required for the Veterans Day on the Bay.
