Dwayne Johnson may be nicknamed “The Rock,” but in reality, he’s just a big ‘ole softie. On Monday, the actor took to Instagram to post a video dedicated to a young fan suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Down’s Syndrome. In the video, Johnson sings “You’re Welcome” from the animated Disney movie Moana where he voices Maui.

“This message is for a little boy out there, he’s 3 years old, and this little boy is one of the coolest little boys around, and he’s certainly one of the strongest because he is a fighter,” Johnson begins. “Right now, this little boy is in the fight of his life. His name is Hyrum Harris. Hello Hyrum, I hope this message gets to you!”

The actor continued, introducing himself to the young boy before getting down to business. “I heard you love a movie called Moana, which is crazy, because I love that movie too! I also heard you watch Moana about 10 times a day because the character you love, Maui, gives you strength,” Johnson said. “People tell me I kind of sound like him. I just wanted to send you a video to tell you how much I love Maui too. I know a little of his song.”

The actor then sings several lines of the song, composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, before telling the little boy to “stay strong.” In the caption of the video, Johnson admitted Hyrum’s story “punched me in the gut a little bit.”

As People reports, the sweet video tribute eventually made its way to Hyrum’s parents, April and Rich Harris, who told the outlet they were “touched” by the actor’s thoughtfulness and kind words.

“This has been such a moving experience for our family,” April told the outlet. “We were all touched that night and continue to be astonished and amazed at the outpouring of love and support my little fighter is receiving.”

In addition to being an incredibly sweet gesture, Johnson’s tribute had another positive impact on the family: Bringing attention to their GoFundMe campaign, set up to help pay for Hyrum’s myriad medical expenses.
