The new project, which currently has no official release date, puts Johnson alongside other Hollywood heavy hitters such as Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot.

"Day 1 of shooting our RED NOTICE has officially begun for @Netflix.Me and my friends @vancityreynolds and @gal_gadot are on the move." The megastar captioned his first social media post back at work following the loss of his father. Only a few days removed from the massive loss, it appears the actor is attempting to keep in good spirits and occupy himself with work.

"In the world of international crime, an Interpol issued RED NOTICE is a global alert to hunt down and capture the worlds most wanted. The world’s greatest art thief. The world’s greatest tracker. The worlds greatest conman."

Red Notice was originally conceived and penned by Rawson Marshall Thuber, who also operates as the film's director, and was greenlit by Netflix for its current 2020 production schedule. This release comes alongside many other major productions currently in the works by the streaming service, and at the heels of such critically acclaimed works already like 'The Irishman.'

The film, according to Deadline is, "an international action thriller centered around the pursuit of the most wanted art thief in the world. It takes place in multiple countries."

Johnson spoke candidly to Deadline, stating, “I admire the ambition of Netflix to become one of the biggest movie studios in the world, their original content generates critical acclaim and invites full collaboration on every level of production. Their unbridled enthusiasm for Red Notice is equally matched by their commitment to entertaining audiences on an international scale."

Thuber, on the Netflix deal, mentioned to Deadline that he is, “beyond thrilled to be making Red Notice with Scott Stuber and Netflix, a company that believes in filmmakers and big ideas for a global audience.”

Formulating blockbuster films with some of the biggest names in Hollywood and beyond has certainly become a trend for entertainment giant Netflix, whose recent investments into upcoming films such as 'The Prom' with Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden and Ariana Grande, it seems as though content from the online-based streaming service will only be growing in scale from here on out.
