The world lost an icon on Friday when it was announced that legendary rapper DMX had passed away. He succumbed to a heart attack at the age of 50 and he was a man who had a positive influence on everybody.

Philadelphia 76ers big man Dwight Howard is 35-years old and he grew up listening to his music and it had a huge impact on his life. Music can have a huge effect on anybody and DMX was one who talked bout his life experiences in his songs.

His passing had an effect on Howard when the news broke.

“Death is a part of life,” said Howard. “We all have to at some point transition. DMX is somebody who we all grew up listening to his music and trying to rap like him and do the voice and stuff like that. He will be missed.”

Howard then paused and he collected his thoughts a bit to wish his family his condolences. DMX is one of those people you just really do not forget.

“We will always remember the music and the words of encouragement, the positivity, and the things that DMX has done for my generation,” he finished. “It’s to see him go, but I just wish his family and his closest friends and his children, just sending my condolences and let them know how much during this time of bereavement that we just send them our love and our prayers.”
