DWU football Gameday: Tigers welcome Hastings for homecoming game

Sep. 24—The 2021 Dakota Wesleyan University football team is looking to get its second win of the season on the Tigers' homecoming weekend. Here's what to know ahead of Saturday's matchup:

When: 1 p.m. Saturday.

Where: Joe Quintal Field.

Records: Hastings 0-3, DWU 1-2

Coaches: DWU's Ross Cimpl (10th season); Hastings' Matt Franzen (first season)

All-time series: 28th meeting all-time. DWU trails in the series, 18-9, but DWU has won three of the last five meetings in the series. The last time DWU beat Hastings was Nov. 16, 2019 at home, by a score of 30-7.

Last meeting: Hastings 45, Dakota Wesleyan 7 on Sept. 12, 2020 in Hastings, Nebraska.

Notes about the Tigers: DWU is coming off a 27-14 loss to Midland last week in Nebraska. The Tigers had 250 total offensive yards in their last outing, 174 passing and 76 yards rushing. DWU has also only allowed one of its three opponents this season to rush over 100 yards.

Notes about the Broncos: Hastings is coming off a close loss last week to Jamestown, with the Jimmies scoring an 80-yard touchdown with 42 seconds left. The Broncos allow an average of 215 yards rushing and 304 yards passing so far this season.

Next: DWU plays Concordia in Seward, Neb., at 1 p.m. on Oct. 2, while Hastings travels to Briar Cliff University on Oct. 2.
