DWU volleyball's Ady Dwight claims second NAIA attacker of the week honor in three weeks

Oct. 25—MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan volleyball is on quite the roll and Ady Dwight is right at the center of it.

For the second time in three weeks, Dwight, a junior middle blocker, was named attacker of the week for both the entire NAIA, as well as the Great Plains Athletic Conference, both organizations announced on Tuesday.

Dwight put down 36 kills (at a rate of 5.14 per set) and hit .350 last week, as the Tigers went 2-0 and ran their active win streak to eight matches since the start of October. This week's honors follow Dwight's selection for both just two weeks ago on Oct. 11, with the Langford, South Dakota, native also earning the conference recognition on Oct. 18. She now has four conference attacker of the week honors in 2022, the first coming back on Sept. 13.

In an Oct. 19 four-set road win over Briar Cliff, Dwight recorded 23 kills and hit .373, which was followed up by a 13-kill outing while hitting .310 in a sweep of No. 19 Dordt at home on Oct. 21. For the season, Dwight is tied for the NAIA lead in total kills (433) and ranks second in kills per set (4.76).

DWU, ranked 10th in the NAIA with a new poll coming Wednesday, owns a 20-4 overall record (10-3 GPAC) and has reeled off eight straight match wins dating back to Oct. 1.

The Tigers have three matches remaining on their regular-season schedule, starting with a ranked road match at No. 7 Northwestern (DWU won the first meeting 3-1 on Sept. 14 in Mitchell) on Wednesday.

DWU's final two matches are at home, as the Tigers will host Morningside (DWU won 3-0 on Sept. 17 in Sioux City) on Oct. 29 and No. 2 Jamestown (UJ won 3-2 at home on Sept. 21) on Nov. 1.
