“First signed copy!” Dwyane wrote in his Instagram story, according to People.

He shared a photo of the cover, which his daughter signed, “To Dad: I love you.” The 41-year-old shared a video of Zaya’s boardroom meeting ahead of the magazine’s release.

“First board room meeting for this 15-year-old!” he wrote.

This is Zaya Wade’s first magazine cover. She was photographed by Renell Medrano in a spread that included SS23 Miu Miu clothing and leather boots, as well as jewelry from the vintage store RELLIK. Zaya shared behind-the-scenes photos of the shoot, which includes close-up snapshots of the fashion closet and photos with her father.

“Zaya Wade is a shining example of owning the power of living one’s own truth,” DAZED editor-in-chief IB Kamara wrote on Instagram. “Since coming out as trans at the age of 12, she’s taken on the mantle of activist, fashion-world darling – and now, for the first time, cover star.”

Zaya came out as transgender at 12 years old. Just last month, she was granted an official name change and assignment of gender by a Los Angeles county judge, People reported. This change legally allows her to have documents reflecting her gender identity.

“So many big changes have happened over the last couple of years with me, but also just in general,” she told DAZED. “I think it’s not my job, but it’s my honour to continue and further my family’s education and appreciation for the entire LBGTQ+ community as we grow together. As our understanding of acceptance has broadened over the past couple of years, we have made the strides to keep ourselves educated and combat the ignorance.”
