NBA superstar and overall superdad Dwyane Wade posted a touching tribute to his daughter Zaya on Instagram over the weekend.

On Sunday, Wade shared with his 17.1 million followers a heartfelt message about the meaning of “unconditional love,” next to a sweet picture of his 13-year-old kid.

“Unconditional love, simply put, is love without strings attached,” he wrote. “It’s love you offer freely. You don’t base it on what someone does for you in return. You simply love them and want nothing more than their happiness.”

“This type of love, sometimes called compassionate or agape love,” the three-time NBA champion and Olympic icon continued, adding three heart emojis, and tagging @zayawade.

Earlier this year, Wade opened up about the moment that his daughter, who identifies as trans, told him and his wife, Gabrielle Union, that she wanted to start living as her true self.

“We are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community and we’re proud allies as well,” the former pro basketball said during a episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

“We take our roles and responsibilities as parents very seriously,” he added.

In September, the couple was profiled in Time’s annual list of the world’s 100 most influential people.

“We have another daughter who is 13, who has the freedom to be exactly who she is, who she was born to be, to be her most authentic self,” Union said referring to Zaya. “She doesn’t ask permission to exist. It’s wildly inspiring.”

Wade agreed.

“We’re inspired by our kids,” he said. “The way they look at us, the way they look to us for leadership and guidance, for their moments of bravery.”
