  • Earlier this year, TODAY show host Dylan Dreyer announced that she's pregnant with her second child.

  • The meteorologist suffered a miscarriage last winter, and opened up about her struggles with secondary infertility.

TODAY meteorologist Dylan Dreyer and her husband, Brian Fichera, are looking forward to the arrival of their second child, but the journey has been bumpy. Earlier this year, she shared that she struggled with secondary infertility, and suffered a miscarriage last winter. Recently, she revealed that her natural pregnancy hasn’t been easy after her attempts to conceive.

“It was so much harder this time around,” Dreyer, 38, said in an interview with People. “We weren’t sure we were going to get pregnant or what sort of IVF treatments we’d have to go through to be able to have this baby.”

Earlier, Dreyer revealed that she and her husband were just about to begin in vitro fertilization treatments, when she learned she got pregnant naturally. "The day I was going to start my IVF...the doctor called and said, 'Don't take anything, you're pregnant," she announced on TODAY.

Despite the setbacks and hardships over the past year, Dreyer said she feels grateful that she has the opportunity to expand her family once again. “Every night I pray and thank God for putting us in this situation and giving us this opportunity and not having to struggle any longer than we did,” she told People.

Now that Dreyer is in her third trimester, she’s less worried about her soon-to-arrive baby, and is turning her focus on helping her two-year-old son Calvin adjust to the changes soon to come.

She shared on social media how she's spending quality vacation time with Calvin, as well as taking the weekend to prepare his new "big boy bedroom."

Dreyer wanted to make sure Calvin would feel okay about the new addition to the family, so she put a treasure chest with a baby countdown in his room, she told People. “Every day Calvin opens up the treasure chest and it’s a new little gift from his baby brother, little things like a Matchbox car or a little thing of Play-Doh or stickers or just something small, so he’s excited.”

Dreyer is due in January 2020, and while we aren't on the receiving end stickers and toy cars, we're also excited to welcome her new baby into the world.
