'Dynamic pricing' in golf? Please. Greens fees are too high

Your recent front-page story, “Golf's surge still going in Coachella Valley…” about busy golf courses in the valley is good and bad news for many golfers. I have had the pleasure of playing here for many years, but green fees are getting too high! Since COVID, many fees have gone up 20 to 40% for little or no reason – other than increased play and price gouging, the golfer isn't getting anything more for that money!

And don't mention that ridiculous term "dynamic pricing" to a hacker over 40 – just another meaningless phrase that will drive business away! Some golf geek states in your story that he hopes to see a $300 green fee established this January – there is no course in this valley that is not private that is worthy of that goofy number!

Before you golf operators get too puffy with yourselves, remember, "Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered!

Israel’s medical contributions are unparalleled

I have no doubt that if society, in general, became aware of the contributions and the remarkable advancements in the practice of modern medicine that Israel has brought to the world, particularly in the treatment of cancer, there would be a worldwide receptiveness of both gratitude and appreciation.

A welcome sign of civility.

Margulies’ perspective on antisemitism rings true

I wanted to thank Julianna Margulies for sharing her thoughts and feelings in her recent opinion piece, “My non-Jewish friends, your silence on antisemitism is loud.” It has been incredibly difficult and her words rang true. Furthermore, I thank The Desert Sun for sharing her words. If you can please forward my message to her of thank you, would greatly appreciate it.

Sorry, Monroe fans, we have bigger issues to worry about

It’s indicative of the often-flakey California mindset that such an issue even exists about the beautiful but troubled movie star Marilyn Monroe. To point out the obvious, there are more important issues in the world today to consider and certainly more important people worthy of a statue. The above mindset also explains the political climate here. Sorry, Monroe fans.
