These Dyson Airwrap Attachments Make All the Difference

There's no question that I love doing the occasional blow-out. However, when you have delicate natural hair, you have to be extra cautious to protect against heat damage and breakage.

This often means doing as few passes as possible with both your blowdryer and flat iron so you can avoid frying your hair. With that said, you've also got to make sure that you're not creating too much tension as well.

Traditional round brushes are typically a no-no for textured hair, however, using a paddle brush or even a Denman brush can get the job and give you a smooth finish. The only problem is that if you're not as coordinated as your hairstylist is, blowdrying your own hair can be a bit of a challenge.

Thankfully, Dyson (the queen of hair tools) has some attachments you can use on your Airwrap to give you a gorgeous blow-out in no time — and you won't have to destroy your curls in the process.

Both the Firm Smoothing Brush and Soft Smoothing brush have become my go-to staples for when I want to do my blow-out at home. Since they literally replicate a paddle brush, you only have to use one hand for drying, while the other can be used to hold the hair taut. So, it goes without saying that this is much easier than trying to juggle two tools at once.

To use, I start off by washing my hair, then detangling with conditioner in the shower. Next, I apply a deep treatment then sit under the steamer. Once I've rinsed that off, I section my hair into four and spritz on Mizani's 25 Miracle Milk Heat Protectant Leave-In Conditioner and apply a smidge of Dark & Lovely's Silky Slip Blow-Dry Cream to each part.

Next, I attach the Firm Smoothing Brush to my Airwrap, and starting at my ends, I work my way up to the roots, gently brushing my way through each section. Once I'm done, I switch it for the Soft Smoothing Brush to go over the perimeter of my hair, and make sure my roots are properly dried. I follow up with my flat iron, and boom — I've got a sleek salon-level blow-out right at home.

That said, the Dyson is going to cost you a pretty penny, I won't lie. However, if you're investing in regular salon appointments, and wouldn't mind sometimes doing your hair on your own, then you can do the math. But I will say, as the owner of not one, but two Dyson hair tools, I can assure you surely won't regret this splurge — and your hair will thank you, too.
