ST. CLAIR — Blue Water Area residents will be able to take on bike paths with ease, thanks to a new electric bike store.

E-Bikes and More offers a sizeable collection of both electric and regular bicycles to customers. Its owners, Kevin Owens and Candy Tilley, say they've built their business on quality and good customer service.

E-Bikes and More has already garnered a great reaction from the community, according to Owens.

The business, 1293 S. Range Road, will host a grand opening at 4 p.m. April 5 with refreshments and vendor displays for interested customers. Additionally, people will have the chance to test drive some of the E-bikes, weather pending.

“I think electric-powered bikes are a great thing for the communities here," Owens said. "I think it will help with providing accessibility and transportation."

In addition to its variety of regular and E-bikes, the business also sells bikes parts and accessories, and offers service.

"I'm trying to cover the entire Haro Bikes lineup of electric bikes," Owens said.

The shop also offers bikes from the Electric Bike Co. In a corner dedicated to the brand, people can use a touch screen to design a custom bike. Once finished, the bike can be shipped to the store or to the customer's residence. Tilley called them "the Cadillac of bikes."

Owens and Tilley have backgrounds in the automotive industry, with Owens working in vehicle design and Tilley in quality control. Owens said they want to offer customers good, quality bikes and customer service.

They became interested in E-bikes a few years ago during a trip to Mackinac Island. Tilley had just recovered from COVID-19, and found she couldn’t keep up with Owens while riding bikes around the island.

“Being left behind was not an option," Tilley said. "So, we started researching E-bikes and it just took off from there."

Owens said E-bikes offer several advantages over regular bikes, including allowing riders to go farther without losing stamina, the ability to ride on a variety of terrains, and they allow riders who may be recovering from injuries or are otherwise physically restricted to ride with ease.

Owens said they want to start offering rental services. Once available, people will be able to rent a bike over the phone or though the business' website. Owens said rented bikes will be delivered early in the morning and picked up in the late afternoon.
