The Eagle 106.9 FM and KESQ TV named broadcast partners of Coachella Valley Firebirds

Local hockey fans now know where they can listen to and watch the Coachella Valley Firebirds as the team announced the broadcast partners for its inaugural season.

Alpha Media with flagship radio station 106.9 FM The Eagle will air all 72 Firebirds games, beginning with the team's first-ever game Sunday at Calgary. The radio broadcasts will include pre- and post-game coverage as well as between-period analysis.

Meanwhile, KESQ News Channel 3 will be the exclusive local television broadcast partner for the Firebirds, and part of that partnership will include airing 10 of the Firebirds' 32 home games live across its stable of networks. That will include the home opener at Acrisure Arena on Dec. 18.

Evan Pivnick, the voice of the Firebirds, will provide play-by-play duties for all games with his call broadcast across TV and radio outlets including AHLtv and the Firebirds team app which has not yet launched.

Former local TV mainstay Gino Lamont and hockey legend Grant Fuhr will handle pre-game, intermission and post-game panel duties.

The Firebirds, an AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken, open their inaugural season at noon on Sunday against the Calgary Wranglers.

These are the 10 games that will air live on TV locally across the KESQ family of channels:

  • Dec. 18: vs. Tucson Roadrunners on FOX

  • Jan. 7: vs. San Jose Barracuda on CW

  • Jan. 16: vs. Tucson Roadrunners  on FOX

  • Feb. 3: vs. San Diego Seagulls on ABC

  • Feb. 18: vs. Bakersfield Condors on CW

  • March 11: vs. Texas Stars on CW

  • March 25: vs. Henderson Silver Knights on FOX

  • April 1: vs. Colorado Eagles on CW

  • April 8: vs. Bakersfield Condors on FOX

  • April 9: vs. Henderson Silver Knights on CW
