Eagle boys place second at Invite, girls place fourth

Apr. 29—ZIONSVILLE — The Zionsville track and field teams hosted their own Invite on Friday evening.

Brownsburg won both the boys and girls meets, scoring 181 points on the boys side and 118 on the girls. Zionsville placed second on the boys side with 104 points and fourth on the girls side with 57.5 points.

On the boys side, the highlight of the night came in the 200-meter dash, where junior Cam Mullens set the school record in a time of 22.00 in the prelims. He finished third in the finals in a time of 22.06.

He broke the record of Shane Mikesky, who ran 22.06 in 2011.

Mullens won the 400-meter dash in a time of 49.28 and helped the 4x400 place fifth in a time of 3:29.20 with Matthew Helton, Luke and Evan Mayo.

The Eagles also got a win from Matthew Helton in the 800, finishing in a time of 1:55.96, Ryan Handy in the 1,600 in a time of 4:23.61 and Finn Essley in the discus 165-0. Essley was also seventh in the shot put in 50-5.

The 4x800 team of Helton, Bailey, Mayo and Handy also won, finishing in 8:00.66.

Also scoring for the Eagles: Obi Anyanwu in the 100 (eighth, 11.42), Evan Mayo in the 800 (2:02.91), Will Nobbe in the 1,600 (4:35.53), Sam Spees in the 3,200 (third, 9:31.12), Jack Turnbull in the 3,200 (fourth, 9:37.77), Eli Pilcher in the 110-hurdles (third, 15.87), Micah Morris in the 110-hurdles (sixth, 16.58), Mason Nicholson in the 300-meter hurdles (eighth, 43.90), the 4x100 team of Anyanwu, Barth, Shuster and Scheker (sixth, 44.10), Alden Briney in the high jump (eighth, 5-8) and long jump (eighth, 20-4.75), Ryan Skura in the long jump (fourth, 21-3.50) and Ian Seward in the discus (126-6).

On the girls side, Omema Anyanwu placed second in the 200 in a time of 25.75 and in the 400 in a time of 57.88.

Also scoring for the Lady Eagles: Delaney Greeson in the 200 (eighth, 27.10) and 400 (sixth, 1:00.74), Cailyn Murphy in the 800 (2:29.55), Mackinsey Heagy in the 800 (2:29.76), Katy Green in the 1,600 (5:23.50), Anwesha Mishra in the 1,600 (5:25.59), Maddie Scheitlin in the 3,200 (12:09.73), the 4x100 team of Elizabeth Raborn, Claire Campion, Maddie Wooden and Paige Wooden (sixth, 52.84), the 4x400 team of Greeson, Anyanwu, Lily Abney and Abby McClure (sixth, 4:17.57), the 4x800 team of McClure, Scheitlin, Marlee Phillips and Maddie Bruns (seventh, 10:19.94), Libby Stokely in the long jump (15-5), Bridget Beyer in the shot put (36-5), Jordyn Coleman in the shot put (33-6) and Megan Whinnery in the discus (104-02).
