Eagle Eye on Education: Return to class means getting ‘Back to the Future’
New Albany-Plain Local Schools welcomed back more than 5,100 students and 686 faculty, administrators and staff members to our learning campus Aug. 18. To best meet the academic and developmental needs of our students, we expect to attend school daily in-person, just like we did all of last school year.
“We are stronger together” by working tirelessly to put “Students First” as the 2022-23 school year kicked off with a theme of “Back to the Future.” Ensuring students have access to high-quality instruction from an outstanding teaching faculty paired with interventions and support to meet the learning needs of each student, we will continue to close learning gaps experienced during the pandemic disruption.
As we continue to actively listen and benefit from a high level of care and involvement, it is clear that there is a great deal of community pride for our students, staff and schools. While well earned, we accept the responsibility and accountability to continue to improve for our students.

Our community can help us fulfill our commitment to excellence.We are working daily to build an inclusive campus culture where every student is safe, supported and connected, where we treat everyone with kindness, dignity and respect to foster a positive school environment for everyone. We have the opportunity to demonstrate with our students that our actions and words matter and, collectively, we are “One Team, One Family.”
The summer recess was a very busy time on our school campus. The fast pace of transitioning and filling personnel vacancies, curriculum work by teachers and administrators and countless hours of cleaning, maintenance, capital repairs and replacements created quite the summer buzz necessary to be ready for another exciting school year.

In September, we will publicly report on our 2021-22 benchmark goals and data to establish our continuous-improvement plan for the 2022-23 school year that will include accountability for academic learning and growth, well-being, finances and our school culture. We will continue to integrate the R Factor into our daily habits by actively practicing the six disciplines to influence the outcomes produced.
Our Eagles are ready to soar into the 2022-23 school year.
