Eagle Lake now a Gig Town with new fiber network

EAGLE LAKE — A "Gig Town" event will be held Nov. 15 in Eagle Lake to celebrate the community's connection to high-speed fiber internet access.

Consolidated Communications, through its Fidium Fiber service, has completed installing an all-fiber network to serve the 1,100 homes and businesses in Eagle Lake.

Gig Towns are communities with broad access to multi-gigabit fiber internet.

At noon Nov. 15 at City Hall, 705 Parkway Ave., there will be a brief celebration that will include remarks by Eagle Lake City Administrator Jennifer Bromeland, Olivia Adomabea, Eagle Lake's community development coordinator, and Mark Sharpless, senior manager of network engineering for Consolidated Communications.
