The Eagles will perform at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, Calif., on Feb. 24-25, 2023.

Rock: There are few bands or music artists in the world with the same prestige as The Eagles, who sold 200 million records worldwide, 100 million records in the U.S. alone and have the first and third bestselling albums of all time. The band created a new sound during the '70s known as "California rock," and recorded several hits such as "One Of These Nights," "Hotel California" and "Take It Easy."

The Eagles' nine-year run of massive success ended in 1980, but members Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Don Henley enjoyed successful solo careers before reuniting in 1994 for a live concert on MTV titled "Hell Freezes Over," a nod to a 1980 quote by Henley following the band's hiatus, and a two-year tour. In 2008, the band headlined the second year of the Stagecoach country music festival in Indio.

The Eagles will perform on Friday and Saturday at Acrisure Arena.

If you go: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Acrisure Arena, 75-702 Varner Road, Palm Desert. Tickets start at $189. 888-695-8778. acrisurearena.com

The McCallum Theatre is seen in Palm Desert, Calif., Monday, April 18, 2022.

Chicago: In 1969, the band Chicago released its debut self-titled album combing rock music with jazz and classical, and some of the songs challenged the norms of radio airplay due to their length. The tracks "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" and "Questions 67 and 68" were unlike anything else at the time, and they set Chicago apart from its contemporaries. During the '70s and '80s, Chicago pumped out several albums full of rock hits and romantic ballads.

On Thursday at the McCallum Theatre, the tribute band Beginnings will perform highlights of Chicago's music. The concert is being presented by The Desert Symphony.

If you go: 8 p.m. Thursday, McCallum Theatre, 73-000 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert. $95 to $155. 760-340-2787. mccallumtheatre.com

Comedy: George Lopez is one of the biggest names in comedy. During the early 2000s, the Los Angeles actor and stand-up comedian had his own self-produced TV sitcom. He also hosted "Lopez Tonight" on TBS from 2009 to 2011 and is back with a new sitcom, "Lopez vs Lopez."

In 2014, Lopez told The Desert Sun he purchased a home in La Quinta for "not a lot of money" after several stays at the La Quinta Resort and Club.  "I enjoy the house very much. People will see me at the market and they’ll see me getting coffee and they’ll see me at (the former Rancho Mirage golf store) Lumpy’s and they’ll see me at CVS and they’ll be like, 'George Lopez?'"

Lopez will perform on Saturday at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
