Eagles star helps unveil the new ‘Lane Johnson Performance’ complex as part of $500K gift to Kilgore College

Lane Johnson is paying it forward and although the Eagles star was a first-round pick out of Oklahoma, the right tackle got his break playing junior college football at Kilgore College in East Texas as a quarterback.
Now Johnson is returning the love and last spring, the Eagles right tackle donated $500K to the college.
On Thursday, Johnson helped introduce the new ‘Lane Johnson Performance Complex’ at the Juco school.
Lane donated $500,000 to build the workout center for athletes there.
“You get here, man, there’s a lot of hungry people,” he said. “It’s survival of the fittest, people working their tails off.”
“Words cannot express the gratitude that the Kilgore College Athletic Department and the student-athletes have,” said Jimmy Rieves, the school’s athletic director.
“A sports and conditioning complex is vital to the success of student-athletes,” he added. “I’ve been involved at Kilgore College for 25 years and this is something that we badly needed.”
Johnson bulked up and ended up transferring to Oklahoma after his freshman year, where he played for the Oklahoma Sooners football team from 2009 to 2012.
After redshirting in 2009, Johnson played tight end and defensive end in 2010.
As a junior in 2011, he switched to offensive tackle and started 12 of 13 games at right tackle, before being named third-team All-American as a senior.
