Eagles vs. Raiders preview: Five things to know about Week 7

The Philadelphia Eagles and Las Vegas Raiders will face off this week, with kickoff set for 4:05 p.m. EDT on Sunday via Fox.

Looking to put Jon Gruden in the rearview mirror, the Raiders went on the road and beat the Broncos 34-24. Philadelphia is coming off a 28-22 loss on Thursday night to the Buccaneers and adjusting to life without Zach Ertz.

Here are five things to know for Week 7.

1. Rich Bisaccia has Raiders attention

Tasked with following the recently fired Jon Gruden, Bisaccia led a spirited Raiders team to a blowout victory over the Broncos on the road.

Bisaccia is the Las Vegas special teams coach and will continue in that role despite taking on head coaching duties for the rest of the season.

He has a talented staff led by defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, and offensive line coach Tom Cable have all been head coaches. Linebackers coach Richard Smith and wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett have been coordinators in the NFL as well.

Las Vegas will be prepared.

2. Derek Carr on a hot streak

Against the Broncos, Carr threw for 341 yards, his fourth game with 300+ passing yards this season.

3. Eagles offense too predictable

By utilizing the RPO concept on every play, Philadelphia has steered away from the conventional form of an offensive approach.

Second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts has been tasked with reading defensive keys and at times the extra read has caused the opposition to comfortably adjust on the run.

Running Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell provides an extra player to key on while freeing up Hurts to make better decisions.

4. Raiders strength is Eagles weakness

On offense, Las Vegas has been explosive all season long, averaging 385.2 yards per game, while the Eagles’ much-maligned defense is surrendering 345.3 total yards per outing.

5. Eagles rested and set to avoid the trappings

This is a new NFL, so the lure of Las Vegas isn’t the same due to COVID-19 and team travel guidelines. While the Raiders are coming off an emotional win in Denver, the team could come crashing down to earth. For Philadelphia, they’ll be rested and won’t arrive in Las Vegas until Saturday evening, avoiding the trappings of the city nightlife.
