GAYLORD — The Northland Sportsmen’s Club of Gaylord said its scholarship committee has selected Lucas Ealy of Gaylord High School for the 2023 scholarship of $1,200 and a one-year membership in the club.

Ealy is graduating with a 4.31 GPA and will be attending the University of Alabama to study political science with a pre-law concentration, with the goal of earning a law degree.

For the past two years Ealy has been a kayak guide along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, where he was able to educate guests on the lakeshore.

He is the current president of the National Honor Society and the Key Club at his school. The letters of recommendation submitted with Ealy's application talk about him being a natural leader, goal oriented and service-minded young man.

He will be introduced to the membership of the Northland Sportsmen’s Club at their next regular meeting on Thursday, June 1.
