In an email sent out to parents, Administrators say Bakersfield police were immediately notified of the threat, but the department had already begun to investigate the threat thanks to a tip from a community member.

The email states, BPD will be working closely with the staff of the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District to ensure the safety of students and staff. There will be a police presence at the school as a safety precaution.

Social workers were on campus Monday to support students and staff members.
