Earle Wise Jr. named 5th District Court of Appeals presiding judge

CANTON – Earle E. Wise Jr. of the 5th District Court of Appeals was unanimously elected presiding judge by the other members of the court, effective Jan. 1.

Wise previously has served as the court’s administrative judge.

He was elected to the appeals court in 2016 and began his term on Feb. 9, 2017.

Prior to his election, Wise was in private practice in Stark and surrounding counties. He served as an assistant public defender in Carroll County.

He was the city administrator for the city of North Canton from 2005 to 2010, and was an assistant Stark County prosecutor from 1997 to 2005.

Wise is a graduate of Marlington High, the College of Wooster, and the University of Akron School of Law. He is married and has two children.
