Update: Early morning fire destroys lakeside home in northern SLO County

A home in the gated Oak Shores Community near Lake Nacimiento was destroyed in an early morning fire Monday.
Two residents were able to safely escape the home before the fire destroyed the structure, Tom Swanson, assistant chief of SLO County Cal Fire, told the Tribune.
There were no pets in the home, Swanson said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Swanson said, but “we’ve ruled out arson.”
The structure fire involved a joint response by SLO County Cal Fire and Paso Robles City Fire and Emergency Services Department, he said.
The response involved seven engines, a water tender and some patrol resources, he said.
The fire spread from the home to nearby vegetation, but was quickly contained before it could spread further.
A few engines remain at the scene.
