Savannah Police arrests man in Aug. 21 Inglewood Drive shooting, charges him with murder

The Savannah Police Department (SPD) has arrested Karon Jakeem Shields in connection with the Aug. 21 shooting in the 300 block of Inglewood Drive.

Shields was charged with murder and booked into Chatham County Detention Center on Aug. 24.  This matter remains an active and ongoing investigation, according to an SPD press release.

At 2:51 a.m. on Aug. 21, SPD officers responded to the 300 block of Inglewood Drive and discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound, according to an SPD press release. Life-saving measures were attempted but the victim succumbed to his wounds at the scene.

As of Aug. 14, there have been 16 total homicides in Chatham County, 10 of those in the city of Savannah.
