Early period Signing Day: Here are which athletes from the Big Bend signed National Letters of Intent

The future is calling once again for Big Bend athletes as early period signing day took place Wednesday across area schools. 16 different area athletes signed national letters of intent, inking their athletic and educational destination for the next two to four years.

From Southwood to Bradfordville, here is where Big Bend signees will be heading next fall.

Chiles

Major Hartman, US Coast Guard Academy (football)

Hartman, a two-sport standout in football and lacrosse, will be continuing his career at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. This past season he recorded 14 pancake blocks in eight games.

Isabelle Pauli, Embry Riddle University (volleyball)

The lone volleyball signee for Chiles in this cycle, Pauli will be taking her talents to Embry Riddle in Daytona Beach. She's been a force on the outside for Chiles, recording 185 kills and 126 digs this season.

Wyatt Townsend, William & Mary (cross country)

One of the top runners in the Big Bend is heading to the Division I level at William & Mary. Townsend had a 15:51.92 average this season, with a 15:26.70 personal best. He placed 21st at the state meet.

Broccan Casey, Wheeling University (lacrosse)

The only lacrosse signee in the Big Bend in the early cycle, Casey heads off to West Virginia to play with the Cardinals at Wheeling University. Last season, he scored 13 goals and six assists for the T-Wolves.

Layla Thompson, University of North Florida (soccer):

Wrapping up the Chiles signees, Thompson will be heading due east on I-10 to Jacksonville with the Ospreys at the University of North Florida. The defender had three goals and one assist last season and was an All-Big Bend Second Team selection.

Florida High

Anthony Robinson Jr., Missouri (basketball): 

One of the biggest ballers in the Big Bend, Robinson will be heading off to Columbia, Missouri to play with the Tigers. He is the second straight SEC basketball signee out of Florida High as Tre Donaldson signed with Auburn last fall. Last season, Robinson averaged 16.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game and was named to the All-Big Bend First Team.

Keldri Young, Texas Southern (volleyball)

The Seminoles leading offensive weapon is headed due west next fall, signing with Texas Southern in Houston, Texas. Young recorded 187 kills, 50 aces, 30 blocks, and 147 digs this past season. Of note, Texas Southern did face off against Florida A&M this season.

Ava Dubois, McNeese State (soccer)

Heading into her sixth and final season with the Seminoles, Duboise will be heading to Louisiana to play for McNeese State. She was an All-Big Bend First Team selection recording eight goals and three assists last season for Florida High.

Jaysoni Beachum, Florida State (softball): 

Committed to Florida State since her sophomore year, Beachum makes it official, signing on to stay in Tallahassee and play with the Seminoles in the fall. Beachum was the 2022 All-Big Bend Softball Player of the Year, posting a .507 batting average hitting 12 home runs on 35 hits.

Anna Green, Seminole State (softball)

An All-Big Bend Second Team selection, Green has been the Seminoles' go-to catcher and will be heading to Seminole State in Sanford, Florida next fall. She posted a .324 batting average, recording 24 hits and bringing in 21 runs.

Bre Barnes, Northwest Florida State (softball)

One of the consistent arms in Florida High's pitching cycle, Barnes signs with Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. Barnes was an All-Big Bend Honorable Mention selection, holding a 3.10 ERA in 81 innings pitched, allowing 52 runs on 96 hits and striking out 79 batters.

Carly Allen, College of Central Florida (softball)

Another arm in Florida High's pitching group has been Allen, who's heading to Ocala to play will College of Central Florida next fall. Last season, she 3.54 ERA in 83 innings pitched, allowing 47 runs on 77 hits and striking out 101 batters.

Maddie Mayo, Florida Atlantic (softball)

Wrapping up the Seminoles deep softball signing cycle and the team's second Divison I commit, Mayo heads south to Boca Raton to play with Florida Atlantic next fall. An All-Big Bend First Team Selection, Mayo held a .468 batting average, scoring 31 runs on 37 hits and hitting 10 home runs.

North Florida Christian

Hayleuy Turner, College of Central Florida (softball)

Heading into her sixth and final varsity season with the Eagles this spring, Turner signs with College of Central Florida in Ocala, joining Florida High's Allen, next fall. Turner was an All-Big Bend First Team selection, recording a .453 batting average, bringing in 28 runs on 24 hits, and hitting seven home runs.

Jedd Jones, West Florida (baseball)

The Big Bend's only baseball signee in the early cycle, Jones will be taking I-10 straight west to Pensacola next fall to play for the University of West Florida. Jones was an All-Big Bend First Team selection, posting a .370 batting average, scoring 10 runs on 30 hits and one home run.

Lincoln

Landyn Snowden, Moorehead State (beach volleyball) 

One of two beach volleyball signees in the Big Bend on Wednesday as Snowden made her commitment to Morehead State in Kentucky to play beach volleyball. She was an All-Big Bend Beach Volleyball selection this past spring.

Paige Churchill, Flagler College (soccer)

The third soccer signee of the day came out of Lincoln as Churchill signed to play with Flagler College in St. Augustine. Last season, she had two goals and two assists in six games for the Trojans.

Community Leadership Academy

Jordan Boulware, Southern California (beach volleyball)

Jordan Boulware, 16, competes in a beach volleyball tournament. Boulware has verbally committed to play at the University of Southern California.

CLA's lone signee is making the long trip out to Los Angeles as Boulware makes her commitment official, signing to play beach volleyball with USC. She committed to USC in the summer of 2021 and is the daughter of Kensy Boulware (volleyball) and Peter Boulware (football), who were both standout athletes at Florida State.
