Early Thursday fire damages vacant two-story building in Schenectady

Jun. 9—SCHENECTADY — City firefighters responded to an early-morning fire Thursday at a vacant property along Albany Street.

Crews responded at about 2:55 a.m. to the blaze at vacant two-story mixed-use building 762 Albany St., Schenectady Fire Chief Don Mareno said.

Flames shot from a second-story window and smoke billowed out elsewhere as firefighters worked.

The fire was under control in about two hours, and no injuries were reported, Mareno said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
