Early voting down in Florida primary, data shows

Thousands of people aren’t voting early in the primary election with days left to take advantage of that option, according to data obtained by Channel 9.

There are more mail-in ballots than in-person voting in some counties, but still a low turnout.

Election supervisors said primaries usually bring fewer votes than other elections, but this year is extremely low compared to the last primary before the pandemic.

Early voting in Seminole County started two days ago and has seen a decrease of more than 200 people.

Early voting in Orange and Osceola counties ends Aug. 21 and Aug. 20 in Seminole County.

Early voting runs through Saturday in some Central Florida counties, and Sunday in others.
