At the close of day Nov. 3, the last day of early voting, in the Nov. 8 Election, early voting and absentee ballots resulted in 14,423 votes, or approximately 21% of the 69,397 registered Maury County voters.

The ballot will decide the next Columbia mayor, vice mayor, and Mt. Pleasant commission members will also be decided in the city that is quickly welcoming new residential growth.

During the first week of early voting Maury County Election Administrator, Brandi Cothron said the voter turnout had a "steady" start, which seemed to continue daily throughout the early voting period, which ended last Thursday.

Early voting begins in Maury County: 'It's been a steady start'

"We had a nice steady flow of people coming in and we averaged about 1,000 people every day," Cothron said. "Everything went really smooth, didn't have any backed up lines or anything like that. This ballot compared to the August ballot, of course, is a lot shorter, and so I don't foresee lines being an issue this time."

Cothron also added that votes must be cast at each voter's registered election precinct during Election Day on Tuesday, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

"There is no voting at the election commission," Cothron said. "That was just for early voting. What you need to do is look at your voting registration card to see where your precinct is. If you do not know that information, or can't find your card, give our office a call to find out where you need to go."
