Early voting starts Monday

Oct. 20—Voters throughout Walker County will begin casting their ballots on Monday via early voting ahead of the Nov. 7 Election Day. Early voting will be held at just one location — the Walker County Storm Shelter, 448 State Highway 75 North. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for Nov. 2-3 when hours are extended to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voters will be asked to give a yay or nay to 14 constitutional amendments, as well as the 24 City of Huntsville charter amendments.

Voters in Riverside will be choosing a mayor and a councilmember, as well as raising the ESD1 tax ceiling from $.06 to $.10 to increase funding to provide a full time crew.

Voters in New Waverly will be choosing a School Board Trustee in Position 1, as well as a mayor and councilmembers for the City of New Waverly.

Voters in Huntsville will be choosing a new mayor and new ward 2 and 3 councilmembers.

Voters will also be deciding on a new School Board Trustee for Position 4.

The last day to submit an application for Ballot by Mail is 5 p.m. Friday Oct. 27, and ballots must be returned by Nov. 7. The State of Texas provides an online ballot tracker as well, listed on the Elections page at co.walker.tx.us.
